Less me, more you. Less bluster, more real hands-on training. Let’s create some light!

Photographers Learn To Light at a Lighting Essentials Workshop

What you can expect from us:

  • Professionalism. We are professional in our work and our demeanor.
  • We will work with you to create the best images possible
  • We will treat you with respect
  • The photographers will pledge to send you images for your portfolios
  • The photographers will not sell your images to any third party licensees (stock) nor will your images appear in any third party advertisements unless the photographer and you have worked out a mutually agreeable arrangement.
  • The workshop is not involved in any transactions you make with the photographers.

What we expect from you:

  • Enthusiasm and patience. This is a workshop so there are times when we will be working with you to do the same thing a few times over.
  • Respect and professionalism.
  • Please, please, please be on time. No... be early.
  • The photographs the photographers send you are totally useable for self promotion and portfolio use. No third party sales can happen without a mutually agreed upon relationship with the photographer.

This is a G-Rated workshop so we will not be expecting nudity, implied nudity or any images that would be deemed inappropriate for a general audience. Cute and sexy is great, but sleazy is not going to be something we ask. This is a workshop that a 16 year old model can attend. In fact, my 16 year old daugher occasionally models for us.

So if you would like to be a model at any of our workshops, simply hit the contact page and send me your portfolio link (Model Mayhem, OMP or whatever online model source you use). If you do not have pictures, this is a heck of a great way to get a porftolio for no cost.

Our Next Workshops:

Santa Cruz, CA (use subject line: Santa Cruz Model)

YOU MUST INCLUDE CONTACT INFO. It is very important to be able to confirm and if you get lost.

If you are a model and would like to be one of our workshop models, here is what to expect and what is expected.

First of all, thank you for doing what you do. I can't believe how hard it is to be a good model. Personally I hate having my picture taken, so I am very happy that you all actually enjoy it.

There is NO FEE or Charge at all for models, You will receive the images from the many shooters who are there to work with you. They will not charge you for files and you are free to use the images in your promotions and MM or OMP sites as you wish.

This is a TFP opportunity without compare. You will end up with dozens of images to add to your portfolio. This is a great chance for a beginning model to get a lot of images and some great instruction on working with photographers. As well, you will meet some of the most interested shooters in your area... and that kind of networking works for everyone.

Time for the workshop.

We usually ask the models to arrive at 12:30 and be prepared to stay most of the day. Shooting into the sunset is a fantastic opportunity. If there is a MUA involved, we will tell you in advance, but this is time to prepare for shooting which starts around noon both days.

What to bring:

Wardrobe: Jeans, dresses, skirts / tops and plenty of stuff for headshots. Also remember shoes, belts and accessories. Please have clothes hanging and not in bags. You should have fingernails and toenails done, but please don't feel you have to spend a fortune on that stuff... just nice. Bring makeup for touchups, hair sprays, hair ties for putting it up, and powder. If weather seems chilly bring sweaters, jackets etc... We will have water and fruit and such. If you require something special, bring it. Swimsuits are optional... if you want a swimsuit shot and the weather is nice, bring it along and we will make it happen. No lingerie unless it is coordinated as a part of a specific outfit. This is not a 'glamour' workshop so wardrobe appropriately.

If you have a shot that you want to do, bring the wardrobe with you and let me or Briana (if she is attending) see what it is and we will work it into the shoot if at all possible. Models who are starting out should keep in mind the variety of wardrobe that can be shot. You will recieve a lot of pictures from this workshop, make them all usable by keeping the wardrobe diversified.
